Mountain Lion Siting in unincorporated Redwood City

On 4/2/10, at 2PM a mountain lion was seen in the vicinity of 13 Canepa Court in
unincorporated Redwood City California.

If you see a mountain lion DO NOT APPROACH IT, especially one that is feeding or
with kittens. Most mountain lions will try to avoid confrontation.

Here are a few tips:

Avoid hiking or jogging when mountain lions are most active—dawn, dusk, and at
night.

Keep a close watch on small children.

If you encounter a mountain lion, do not run; instead, face the animal, make
noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms; throw rocks or other objects.

Pick up small children.

Wild Animal Siting

At 6:55am Friday Morning, a wild Bobcat was spotted inside the Seaport Centre in Redwood City, by Security. Anyone who is planning to do business in that area, if the wild animal is spotted, do not approach too closely to the bobcat, try to scare it away by raising and waving your arms.  If you are with children, keep them inside your vehicle until the bobcat has cleared out of the area. If you're unsure on how to deal with wild animals, go to www.keepmewild.org for more information. Stay Safe, and God Bless.

NAMIwalks2010, May 22, Speedway Meadow, Golden Gate Park, SFO

Ok, this will be the last post of NAMIwalks that I am putting up on here. To date there are 11 walkers on the team, and much more room for more new members to join. Previous members are encouraged to join again this year. There are two walk paths, one is a one mile walk (about 30 minutes), the other is a three mile walk (about one hour).  You choose your path.  Offline donations can be mailed to NAMI or brought on the day of the walk and continued donations will be accepted until August of 2010.  Join the team of
"Walking In StRide" today, because it's all about pulling together for something we all care about.
So let's go princess, make a statement on the day of the walk, or watch life pass you by.

Dear Fellow Blogger.

I am writing you today to tell you about an upcoming event that I am participating in that is both very important and very exciting to me. It is NAMIWalks for the Mind of America, NAMI’s signature walkathon event that is being held in San Francisco, CA at Speedway Meadow, Golden Gate Park on May 22, 2010.

This year, and once again, I am walking with my fellow team mates to show my continued support for NAMI. If you would like to join the team of walking in stride, please follow this link below, or copy and paste in your URL line just right above this web page.

Plenty of room for more people.

I would like to ask you to come and walk with me or to donate to support my participation in this great event. Visit my personal walker page to sign up: http://www.nami.org/namiwalks10/SFO/victorpgarcia2010. It features a link to my team's page there where you can see who else is walking with me. There is also a link so you can donate directly to me online. Donating online is fast and secure, and I'll get immediate notification via e-mail of your donation.

NAMI, the Nation’s Voice on Mental Illness, formerly the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, is the largest education, support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all those whose lives are touched by these illnesses. This includes persons with mental illness, their families, friends, employers, the law enforcement community and policy makers. The NAMI organization is composed of approximately 1100 local affiliates, 50 state offices and a national office.

The goals of the NAMIWalks program are: to fight the stigma that surrounds mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health system in this country needs to be improved and to raise funds for NAMI so that they can continue their mission.

NAMI is a 501(c)3 charity and any donation you make to support my participation in this event is tax deductible. NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as among the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world" and has been given an "A+" rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and effective use of charitable dollars. NAMI has also been given 4 out of 4 stars by The Charity Navigator for short-term spending practices and long-term sustainability.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Victor Garcia, Team Member of "walking in stride".

For all hard working Security Officers out there

If you feel that you have been treated unfairly on the job, read this. FCRA Rights.

Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act

The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is designed to promote accuracy, fairness, and privacy of information in the files of every “consumer reporting agency” (“CRA”). Most CRA’s are credit bureaus that gather and sell information about you – such as if you pay your bills on time or have filed bankruptcy – to creditors, employers, landlords, and other businesses. You can find the complete text of the FCRA, 15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq., at the Federal Trade Commission’s Internet web site (http://www.ftc.gov). The FCRA gives you specific rights, as outlined below. You may have additional rights under state law. You may contact a state or local consumer protection agency or a state attorney general to learn those rights.
You must be told if information in your file has been used against you.
Anyone who uses information from a CRA to take action against you – such as denying an application for credit, insurance, or employment – must tell you, and give you the name, address, and phone number of the CRA that provided the consumer report.
You can find out what is in your file.
At your request, a CRA must give you the information in your file, and a list of everyone who has requested it recently. There is no charge for the report if a person has taken action against you because of information supplied by the CRA, if you request the report within sixty days of receiving notice of the action. Where applicable, you also are entitled to one free report every twelve months upon request if you certify that (1) you are unemployed and plan to seek employment within sixty days, (2) you are on welfare, or (3) your report is inaccurate due to fraud. Otherwise, a CRA may charge you up to eight dollars.
You can dispute inaccurate information with the CRA.
If you tell a CRA that your file contains inaccurate information, the CRA must investigate the items, (usually within thirty days) by presenting to its information source all relevant evidence you submit, unless your dispute is frivolous. The source must review your evidence and report its findings to the CRA. (The source must also advise national CRA’s – to which it has provided the data – of any error.) The CRA must give you a written report of the investigation, and a copy of your report if the investigation results in any change. If the CRA’s investigation does not resolve the dispute, you may add a brief statement to your file. The CRA must normally include a summary of your statement in future reports. If an item is deleted or a dispute statement is filed, you may ask that anyone who has recently received your report be notified of the change.
Inaccurate information must be corrected or deleted.
A CRA must remove or correct inaccurate or unverified information from its files, usually within thirty days after you dispute it. However, the CRA is not required to remove accurate data form your file unless it is outdated (as described below) or cannot be verified.
If your dispute results in any change to your report, the CRA cannot reinsert into your file a disputed item unless the information source verifies its accuracy and completeness. In addition, the CRA must give you a written notice telling you it has reinserted the item. The notice must include the name, address, and phone number of the information source
You can dispute inaccurate items with the source of the information.
If you tell anyone – such as a creditor who reports to a CRA – that you dispute an item, they may not then report the information to a CRA without including a notice of your dispute. In addition, once you’ve notified the source of error in writing, it may not continue to report the information if it is, in fact, an error.
Outdated information may not be reported.
In most cases, a CRA may not report negative information that is more than seven years old; ten years for bankruptcies.
Access to your file is limited.
A CRA may provide information about you only to people with a need recognized by the FCRA – usually to consider an application with a creditor, insurer, employer, landlord, or other business.
Your consent is required for reports that are provided to employers, or reports that contain medical information.
A CRA may not give out information about you to your employer, or prospective employer, without your written consent. A CRA may not report medical information about you to creditors, insurers, or employers without your permission.
You may choose to exclude your name from CRA lists for unsolicited credit and insurance offers.
Creditors and insurers may use file information as the basis for sending you unsolicited offers of credit or insurance. Such offers must include a toll-free number for you to call if you want your name and address removed from future lists. If you call, you must be kept off the lists for two years. If you request, complete, and return the CRA form provided for this purpose, you must be taken off the lists indefinitely.
You may seek damages from violators.
If a CRA, a user or (in some cases) a provider of CRA data, violates the FCRA, you may sue them in state or federal court.

The FCRA gives several different federal agencies authority to enforce the FCRA:
